Personal Monogram Letterhead Example
Eleanor J. Vance · Monogram
A centered monogram is the classic personal letterhead, ideal for thank-you notes and formal correspondence.
Cover Letter and Resume Letterhead Example
Marcus Reid · Split header
Matches a resume header so a cover letter and CV look like a set. City only instead of a full address is fine today.
Freelancer Letterhead Example
Priya Raman · Minimal
A single accent rule in a personal color is enough for a freelancer's invoices and pitches.
Family Monogram Letterhead Example
The Calloway Family · Monogram
A single-initial family monogram works for holiday letters, invitations and household correspondence.
Word downloads have a simplified, editable header without the sample logo. Choose Customize with your logo to add your own logo or print the full layout.
What to include on a personal letterhead
- Your full name, or your family name for household stationery
- Email address: a simple, professional one
- Phone number
- Location. A full address for formal or legal letters. City and state is enough for cover letters and online applications.
- Website, portfolio or LinkedIn (optional), useful for job seekers and freelancers
- Your profession or title (optional), for example "Freelance Writer & Editor"
Leave off your date of birth, ID numbers and anything else you wouldn't want a stranger to have. A letterhead goes wherever your letter goes.
Personal letterhead for cover letters
Make your cover letter header match your resume header: same name styling, same contact details, same fonts and color. A hiring manager then sees a matching set, which looks organized and deliberate. The Marcus Reid example above is designed this way. Keep it simple, because applicant tracking systems read plain text best, so avoid putting your name only inside an image.
Monogram letterhead
A monogram is the classic personal stationery choice, used for thank-you notes, condolence letters, invitations and formal personal correspondence. Traditional single-person monograms often use three initials. A simple pair of initials, or a single family initial like The Calloway Family example, also looks elegant. Centered serif type and a thin circle or frame keep it timeless.
Freelancers and sole traders
Freelancers sit between personal and business letterhead. Use your name (or business name) with your profession, and add your website and a business email. One accent color and a minimal layout, like the Priya Raman example, works well across invoices, proposals and pitches. If you trade under a registered business name, local rules may require you to show it, so check the guidance for your country.
