Word uses a simplified header. PDF preserves the full layout. Check the downloaded file in your editor before sending.
Your details stay in this browser. Saving a draft is optional.
Your letter is longer than this page. Shorten it for PDF printing, or download Word to continue across pages.
How to create a letterhead with this maker
- Pick a starting design. Choose one of our 27 letterhead examples from the first menu, including Santa and Christmas stationery, or choose Blank and build your own.
- Type your details. Enter your name exactly as it should appear, an optional tagline (a descriptor, license number or slogan) and the contact details you want people to use. Leave any field empty to hide it.
- Add your logo. Choose Upload my logo and pick a PNG, JPG or SVG file. A PNG with a transparent background looks best. No logo yet? Choose a shape and enter your initials for a simple mark.
- Choose the layout, font and colors. Use your brand colors if you have them. One main color and one accent is plenty.
- Download. Download Word gives you a .docx with the letterhead in the header, so it repeats on every page and stays out of the way while you type. Print or save as PDF opens your browser's print dialog. Choose Save as PDF as the printer to get a PDF.
Word file or PDF: which should I download?
- Word (.docx) if you'll write letters on your computer. The file uses an editable Word header and includes your logo. It simplifies the preview’s layout, especially sidebars and color bands. Other editors may import it differently. Open the downloaded file in your editor and check the result before sending it; we have not visually verified every design in Word, Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice.
- PDF if you want an exact copy of the design. Use it to send to a print shop or to print a stack of blank letterhead paper. In the print dialog, turn on Background graphics so the colors print.
Tips for a letterhead with a logo
- Use the highest-resolution logo you have. A small image from a website can look blurry on paper.
- Wide logos work best with the Logo left, Split header and Minimal layouts. Square logos suit Centered and Color band.
- On the Color band and Sidebar layouts the logo sits on your main color, so a white or light version of your logo stands out best.
- Check that your logo has enough contrast to survive a black-and-white photocopy.
Can I write a letter here?
Yes. Choose Type a letter under Writing area and add your date, greeting, message and signature. Print or save as PDF for a one-page letter, or download Word to continue onto more pages. A warning appears if your text exceeds the preview’s writing area. Choose Lines for handwriting to print lined stationery instead.
Save your design for later
Choose Save on this device to keep a draft, including your logo and letter, in this browser. After saving, changes save automatically. Return on the same device and browser to resume. Delete saved draft removes the stored copy. On a shared computer, download your file and delete the saved draft before leaving. Browser storage is not a backup and can be cleared.
Print a matching envelope
Enter the recipient’s address in the matching envelope section. Choose US #10 or DL, then select Print matching envelope. Your name and address become the return address in your selected brand color. Set the matching envelope size in your printer driver, disable browser headers and footers, and check your printer’s envelope feed instructions. Test alignment on plain paper first.
Is this letterhead maker really free?
Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on downloads, and you can use what you make for personal or business letters. The maker runs entirely in your browser, so your details and logo are never uploaded to our server.
